Apply USA Visa from Singapore

Hi all, based on my recent experience, I am invited by YL to visit USA to attend Silver retreat in Utah!! As Indonesian who stays in Singapore with permanent resident (PR) status, I need to obtain USA visa in USA embassy. I want to share the steps needed to apply USA visa from Singapore. Most likely you have to be Singapore resident to do this (not Singaporean, but have legal staying permit in Singapore) such as Singapore PR, student visa, employment pass, working permit, etc.

1. Create account here as new user:

2. Check in the link below the visa fee according to your visa type. Mine was type B so the fee is 160 USD (and check the stated SGD fee since it keeps changing depends on the currency)

3. Need to print deposit slip from this link, and get your personal CGI reference number.

4. Pay the visa fee in Singapore post/ SAM machine/ SAM mobile.
Pay according to the CGI Reference number that you get from no 3.
PS: if you pay online using SAM, you can book the interview time only after next day 10 am.

5. Start application and fill your D-160 form.

6. Take note n write down your application number and secret question to access your application later on, they will keep it for 30 days.

7. Prepare new pass photo to be uploaded in D-160 form. Preferably 5x5 cm, with white background.

8. Book appointment for your interview, prepare your reference no from D-160 form, and CGI reference no. Please take note if they said your paid CGI reference no wasn't registered, just email them about this. Do NOT pay again since they will not refund you.

9. Come on the day of your appointment bringing all your document along.

10. Your appointment time is the time range that they will allow you to join the queue outside the building, can start to queue up 15 mins before your appointment time on left side of the entrance. Start from here it will be first come first serve.

11. To ease up and smoothen the security check, do not bring laptop, ipad or tablet unless if you must. No electronic allowed inside the building, so yes you have to leave all your gadgets (including your phone) outside with the security when you're inside.

12. Good luck with your interview! Just be honest with your answer, but I seriously feel this mostly based on luck.
